The Carrière Sainte-Sophie has been in operation since the early 1980s, and is a natural source of sand and gravel that come from granite deposits (granite gneiss). Rocks extracted from that quarry show a great resistance to wear, polish and freezing-thawing.
BauVal acquired the site in 2001, which allows the company to diversify and expand its high-quality aggregate resources, as well as increase the availability of performance products made out of granular material ballasts, cement concrete and asphalt mix in terms of quality and quantity required by the industry.
